It’s official! We are now an Authorized Rotiform Wheel Dealer. Today we have a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI in, that is suffering from Diesel contamination. This can occur from poor quality diesel, filling up with gasoline, or other like not replacing fuel filter, and, in this case caused the high pressure fuel pump to fail. Because of the lubricants in diesel, the high pressure fuel pump does not require oil as it is operating. However, because of contamination, the pump did not receive lubrication, causing the gears inside the pump to grind, and cast metal shavings throughout the whole fuel system. Just some of the parts that had to be removed for replacing. The fuel tank, fuel pump (in tank), and all the fuel lines also need to be replaced. With this in mind, it is imperative that the fuel filters be changed on a regular basis. With diesel engines fuel filters should be changed every 30,000km. If you don’t replace it regularly, you risk contamination, and, in this case, a big job.  

Job of the day: Here we have a 2010 Audi A6 with the 3.0T Supercharged. The vehicle was continuously overheating. There are two common issues with this vehicle: 1. The original water pumps had a plastic housing, causing failure. 2. The thermostats have issues as well. We are replacing both the Water Pump with an updated metal water pump, and putting in a new thermostat.

A few weeks ago, we posted about an Audi S4 that came in that was running rough. Upon diagnosis we found that the timing was off. We pulled the engine out and found there were multiple broken timing chain guides, that caused the chain to loosen up, causing poor timing. We have now retimed the vehicle with new chains and guides, and it’s almost ready to be reinstalled back in the car.   But not before we do something about this ugly oil build up… Time to shampoo. With a little bit of elbow grease, we got this engine looking like new. It’s almost time to go back in the car, stay tuned for another update blog post.
